Display different files on splitted panes

Post by mpniel »

Is it possible to display a different file on each pane, after you split a window?
So i can see 2 files easily as in other editors.
A very inportant feature for programmers.
I hope it should be possible.
It should be a standard feature or at least, a very simple way to do it.
I couldn't find any way to do it by a key stoke.
Thanks :)

It isn't possible to display a different file on each pane, after you split a window. Of course you can always use one of the two Tile options from the Window menu, to display the files simultaneously. In this mode, synchronized scrolling may be useful, and can be enabled from the Configure menu.

In my case, it is allmost not applicable to do what you recommend, using the tile option, saying the least.
Because my current workspace has 17 documents.
So, when i tile, i get 17 windows with all my documents on the screen. Then i should manually minimize 15 of them, to leave the 2 documents i want to see on my window in parallel.
In my opinion, it is not only my particular case.
Most of the programmers have several program files on their workspace, and it is usual for a programmer to see 2 different program files splitted on the screen.
It would be great if it could be a new feature for the next version ...

Yes, something like: Select a number of files in the Document Selector and do a 'Tile Selected Files', would be nice.

You can already select which files to tile, by selecting the first file in the document selector, and then use the Shift+Arrow keypad, or Ctrl+Left mouse click.

Great!
This could be THE solution.
But, IMHO it should be any kind od menu or shortcut.
Also, it should be any way to get this from help.
Thanks.

Thanks, I found it in the helpfile now ("How to use the document selector").
