Windows explorer freezes in WIN ME

I run Windows ME with version 4.6.2 of TextPad.
If I open the My Documents folder, Right Click on an html file and click on TextPad, Windows Explorer & TextPad freeze up.

If I wish to open a file with TextPad I need to right click onto the file / Open With / TextPad.
Only them will they not freeze up.

Have you heard of this problem before - it has happened with all versions to date?

I had something like this in Windows 2003 - Explorer didn't freeze, but the selection was somehow locked on that file. You could right click and bring up the context menu, or do stuff to that file, you just couldn't select another file for about 30 seconds.
