I use "DirectCD"-formatted CD disks for copying/carrying files. When I click "txt" files on CD (in CD ROM drive), my computer freezes. That happens to both of my office and home computers. So far I did not encounter any problem in opening other files (e.g., doc, graphics gif or jpg, etc) under the same condition. The problem occurs so far on txt files. On my computer, all txt files are associated with TextPad (v. 4.7) under WinXP OS.
In order to open txt files on CD, I must copy them onto hard drive. I can then open txt files when clicked on txt file on any of hard drives.
Please let me know if you know any trick to open txt files on CD. I felt that this must be a minro bug with TextPad. Satoshi.

I just upated to 4.7.1. In order to ensure the proper installation, the computer was re-booted. I do not see any improvement so far as opening txt files is concerned (on CD). I hate to say such a negative feedback. My computer froze again after clicking on txt file. Looking forward to seeing further improved updates. Thanks. Satoshi

I want to make it a little more clearer.
Even before updating (i.e, with v. 4.7.0), I had no problem in opening txt files with Notepad or textpad by clicking E:/xxx.txt (E: my CD ROM drive). The problem (i.e., freezing computers) occurs when double clicked directly on any text file on CD (which is in CD ROM Drive).
I also would like to mentioned that when double click on doc, gif, jpg, exe (programs), and other extension names (on CD), I did not have any problem whatsoever. The problem appears to be limited to "txt" file when Textpad is associated with "txt".

I would like to make a correction on the original question.
I mainly use Roxio "DirectCD"-formatted CD for carrying/copying files. I have been practice this habit for years. The problem with txt files on CD occurs ONLY on DirectCD"-formatted CDs.
I found that I have no problem in double-clicking on txt files on CDR or CDRW disks. Again, I would like to emphasize that when I click on txt files on DirectCD-formatted disk, computer freezes. (But there was no problem in doc or other files).
So I wish that gurus at TextPad could come up with update to solve the problem associated with DirectCD. Satoshi
