I tend to rarely save files and have a few unsaved files open at any one time. Normally they are called Document1, Document 2 etc. I keep them open for a while can get used to their names.
I have noticed in Textpad 4.7.0 that after a few edits one of the files suddenly renames itself to Document. I think on occasions I may even had more than one file called Document (with no number). This definitely did not happen in previous versions.
Just downloaded the new version to see if it has been fixed even though I can't see it in the list of bugs that have been.

I am using 4.7.1 and I think I see what you may be talking about.
I just opened three documents and they are prenamed Document1, Dcoument2, and Document3 before doing any editing. But when I go to Save As, they come up as document.txt with no number. If I save Document3 as Document.txt, then save Document2, it also comes up to be saved as Document.txt and will overwrite the Document version I just saved.
I don't know if this is different from earlier versions, I never noticed that, but this is just another voice confiming that your issue can be reproduced.
