Open Unicode file, edit and unicode identifier removed

Post by kerschi »

I have found that when opening a unicode text file, edit some text and save it (he tells me on the save as dialog that he is using unicode) the unicode identifier is removed.

I think this is a wrong behaviour. If saved as Unicode the identifier should be the same as on loading the file.

Using version 7.0.1, also in 7.0.0

The Unicode signature is written according to the setting
Configure - Preferences - Document Classes - Your Document Class - Write Unicode and UTF-8 BOM

If i will edit a non-unicode file, will then also be added this BOM when it is set in the options?

Theoretically it is safe to check for each document class this BOM, or?

Thanks

The Unicode BOM will only be written if the file is saved as Unicode (i.e. UTF-8)

For other encodings the Unicode BOM is NOT written.

Why is this option then not set by default?

Thanks
