BUG: Match whole words checkbox

Post by jeffy »

Try this:
  • * Make sure nothing is selected. Press the left arrow once.
    * Open the Find Dialog (with F5 by default), erase the current word, and replace it with "bla".
    * Check "Match whole words".
    * Press [Find next].
    * Close the Find Dialog (even if no instances were found).
    * Select multiple words in your document (existing in the same line).
    * Open the Find Dialog. The "Match whole words" checkbox is still clickable! It shouldn't be.
    * Delete the search word, and then type "bla". The "Match whole words" checkbox remains clickable, as it should.
    * Add "[space]bloo" to the search word. The "Match whole words" checkbox becomes unclickable again, as it should.

I was able to duplicate the same condition in 4.7.0.

Are you suggesting that there is a problem because "whole word" match should not be active if string has a space? I don't think it's an issue.

I suppose it could be confusing to look at, but the results are the same.

I tried some searches of multiple word strings and found that when searching, it does not change the results whether or not "whole word" match is selected. If you select multiple words for searching, then you must be searching for a match to the complete string. Thia is actually a good feature because it allows a string search of multiple words.

Just my opiinion........ :D
