Copying a word should not higlight an exclamation mark

Post by vmuukka »

Hi there,

Copying a word next to exclamation mark will highlight the exclamation mark as well. This often leads (for me) to buggy code when editing a C or Java code.

I quess this fuctionality is a result of some earlier 'enhancement' so I suggest that this highlighting could work differently depengin on TextPad document class. I my opinion the exclamation mark should not be highlighted at all.

Cheers,

Could it be that you have the ! in the "Other characters in words"
under Configure - Preferences - Document Classes - Your Document Class - Syntax?

For me, the ! is only selected with a word if the ! is in the "Other characters in words"...

No, there is only underscore '_'.

This enhancemant is (for me)
--- Important, even if the size/efficiency of TextPad increases/degrades

Check the syntax file, maybe the ! is somewhere in there where it should not be...

Hmm... now it works ok fro me too!

So... this thread can now be removed from the Enhancement Suggestions list.

Final note - I think JDevelepoer caused the problem since it occasionally confuses certain special characters (in that case JDevelper must be restarted).

Thanks for comments anyway.
