Saving files over network in Windows XP

Post by jurgen »

We use textpad 4.7 on two pc's (WinXP pro). We 'share' a folder on one pc and mount this as a drive (e.g. Z:\). Now when the remote pc tries to save a file to this Z drive, textpad does not respond for a minute.

What can we do to solve this?

(PS Notepad does not have this problem, so it is not a network issue.)

Please try implementing the following procedure in TextPad:

From the Configure menu choose:

1. Preferences
2. File
3. Under the heading "When files are modified by another process", check "Ignore"
4. Click Apply / OK.

We still have the problem. Even if the files affected are not open in an other process... :?

This may be related to another problem that some other users are experiencing, so can you please check if you can open files from a CD?

Thanks.

Possible cause

I might have the solution to this problkem myself but don't know for sure.

We edit files in a directory used by Apache Webserver and PHP 4.3.2 while editing (no page requests during save/open though).

Anyway NOTEPAD.EXE does not have this problem. What can we do?
