Integrationg CSE Validator

Post by Nikolaus »

Has anyone know how to integrate CSE Validator?
I installed the free version and clicking on "Extras - HTML Validator" brings the message "System could not find the file". The message is titled "HTMLVAL.EXE".
Renaming the CSE-exe to that name didn't help. Neither could I find any sencable string within the registry.
Is there a configuration item within Textpad or CSE where I have to make the link matching?

Thanks Nikolaus

Go to Configure > Preferences > Tools > Add
and browse to the location of the CSE exe
Expand the Tools list and you will see the program listed
You can then use the tool by going to the Tools button on the TextPad Menu.

This method opens up an instance of CSE with the open file loaded.

Once the Program has been integrated into TextPad as above, you can go to Configure > Preferences > Tools and expand the Tools list, select CSE and alter various peramaters, one of which will give you the other main way of using CSE with TextPad, which runs the program from within TextPad and provides a clickable list of errors.

Integrationg CSE Validator

Post by Nikolaus »

Thanks Mike,

yes indeed, now I have two MORE entries of HTML Validator (the original still doesn't work...)

The two entries are called "HTML Validator Options" and "HTML Validator Configuration" and that is exactly what they do. They call the Validator and open the expected dialog, but they don't load the HTML file!

How can I get the original link to work and just load the HTML file nothing more??? Maybe someone from Textpad is listening to this request!?

Someone there? Nikolaus

OK Nick one more try here,

Under "Tools" do you have a listing Cse50 or something like that?

I have that as well as the HTML Validator option.

The first brings up CSE as a separate program with the file loaded. That is the way I use it.

The second brings up a file within TextPad that has the clickable list of errors I mentioned.

When I go to Configure >Preferences and on the left side expand "Tools" and click on Cse50 I get a dialog box which is filled in like this:

Command: F:\Program Files\HTMLValidator55\cse55.exe
Paramaters: $File
Initial folder: $FileDir

Next is: is the file you are attempting to validate saved as html? HTML validator will be grayed out if not.

To delete your extra entries: Configure >Preferences >Tools and select the extra entry and click the x at the top of the dialog box.
Best Wishes!
