How important is this feature for future versions of TextPad?

Important, even if the size/efficiency of TextPad increases/degrades

Preferences->File->Keep files locked while editing

Post by Jonathan_Taylor »

I believe it would be useful if the preferences were changes in the following way:-

The Preferences->File->Keep files locked while editing

option could be moved down to the "Document Classes" level.

This would allow me to have program source code (e.g. *c., *.sql) automatically locked upon opening (an important feature on a network drive), yet have others not be locked.

Locking of certain files can be inconvenient. For example, if I want to inspect the output of a program, I can load it into TextPad, which locks the file. However, if I decide to rerun the program (and overwrite the file I have in TextPad) I have to remember to close it in TextPad (to avoid a file sharing error), rerun the program, and then reopen the file.

I'm okay either way with this--at this point, anyway, but you might want to take a look at this related request/idea.
