TextPad freezes opening file from network

If you get a problem with TextPad freezing when trying to open a file from a network server, then please see the following information:

This problem may be due to your virus checker.

If you are using the Mcafee virus checker on the Server, they recommend installing service pack 1 for net shield. Some Symantec products, and Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus products may also be affected.

If this is relevant to you, and you haven't already done so, please try installing this update.

If this isn't the solution, then please try implementing the following procedure in TextPad:

From the Configure menu choose:

1. Preferences
2. File
3. Under the heading "When files are modified by another process", check "Ignore"
4. Click Apply / OK.

We use Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition and after several months of never having a problem, just today Textpad started freezing on me, too. I switched the setting to Ignore and it seems fine now. Thanks!

I think there's a bug. But is it in the latest TextPad or Norton AntiVirus 2003?
Or there's bug in both of them.
