Compile errors in XP

I know this topic comes up again and again but I just thought I'd ask if there were a solution to my specific issue.

I used to use Win98 and had no problem compiling Java with Textpad. Since I've upgraded to XP, certain java programs won't compile anymore. Sometimes it says there's no main() function, whether there was one in the program or not.

Any ideas?
