Editing files on a remote machine using FTP

Post by Pat »

Most of us work on local windoze machines but usually the deployment/testing takes place on Unix boxes .
I am looking for a feature in TextPad which can help me browse files from a remote Unix machine ,edit those files and save them transparently .
What I have to do now is to ftp the file to a temp dir in windows , edit the file and then ftp it back to unix .

It would be cool if the FileManager could open remote files and also save remote files so that the user doesnt have to do all the ftping .

Anybody know how to do this ?
any util,add-on for TextPad which does this ?

Thanks
Pat

I know that we have some software doing this.

It is definitely not a Textpad add-on, it is a system-wide add-on.
As our unix people are on holiday at the moment I can't ask them right now, but I guess if you search on the internet for "unix window" or something like that you might find it.

AFAIR it was NOT freeware or shareware...
