I forgot to say that i had to completey switch off Kaspersky Internet Security 10 to achieve a correct installation of TextPad version 5.3.1.
Afterwards TextPad 5 was inserted correctly in the windows explorer context menu items 'open with' and 'send to'.

It was Kaspersky Internet Security 10 causing all kinds of problems:
1) TextPad 5 installation never run correctly although an error message was never displayed.

When i run TextPad from a shell (not as admin), it runs perfectly.
