Works for me. I haven't done "QA" on this file, but it solves all of the various File/Open, double-click, context menu, and send-to failures related to files on the CD.
When I look at "properites" on my text files on CD, they contains created and modifed timestamps, but the "accessed" field is ...

no luck
New build didn't make a difference.
I noticed in my Add/Remove Programs an entry for both TextPad and TextPad 4.7, so I uninstalled everything and re-installed. That also made no difference, but it was worth a shot.

Too bad the thread ends 7/11 with no conclusion.discntd wrote:Developers, take a look at this google groups thread. He is having a "parameter is incorrect" error and the thread concludes with file access times being returned differently from cds/dvds.
Edit: He's also using VS2003.

Re: Away! Return to 4.6.2
I have encountered the same problem that is being described time and time again, but in a network environment. It has been really frustrating.
I agree with the fellow that suggested that 4.7.0 should be retracted, until this problem is fixed. It IS a problem with TextPad 4.7, for the simple reason ...

Has the idea of copyright protection routines been considered? How about age of the CD drives? Location: I understand that recent CD drives have built in anti-copying routines that work relative to location (can't copy a CD from N.Y. in California, etc.).

It is not clear from the previous messages, whether anyone has tried using the File menu/Open method to open a file from a CD. If you haven't already done so, please try this method, and also try using the Quick Open dialog box, which is enabled from the keyboard by pressing Ctrl+Shift+O, and then ...

Re: I'm having the exact same problem!
I'm using Windows XP Home with the latest security updates. TextPad 4.7.0 works fine on my Windows 95 computer. Maybe it's a Windows XP thing.
My system is Windows 2000, so this does not appear to be an XP issue. Of course, if you what you mean is this is an NT issue, that could be true. Windows ...

4.7 cannot read text files on CD
Thought I'd make this problem explicit. Details in the related thread:
http://textpad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4070
4.7 has to be patched or withdrawn immediately. It is not a working version.

4.7 "parameter incorrect" reading .txt from CD
I have no problem with 4.7 reading files on my hard drive, but cannot open files on CD. I receive the same pop up error from textpad, "The parameter is incorrect".
If I copy the file from the CD to the desktop, I can then open the file with Textpad.
So the file is good, but the "location" of the ...
