this might/might not help depending on requirements, but i'm wondering if these posters have used the document selector window? I like it much better than tabs when i have a lot of files open (most of the time), even though it does use more screen space.

and in case it wasn't clear - that's available on the right-click context menu within the editing window (not in selector). I use it a lot & love it!

not an IDE

TextPad is great, but it's not designed to be an IDE, which is what PHP designer sounds like. I use Eclipse for java editing, it's designed for that. But TextPad can't be beat for almost everything else, it's so fast, lightweight, I can have 20 files open in selector; search is fantastic; very ...

not for me

interesting idea; i never use full-path display. I keep selector as narrow as practical, so i probably wouldn't use even 1 additional level. And since you see the full path when hovering the mouse, for me that's enough.

maybe this is used enough to put on the Search menu after Go To? ... or might be used more.
