Still no joy. The interface opens identically in both profiles. What is not happening is that the preferences set when TextPad is open as user A - so that's macros, tools, document classes...anything that can be set in preferences - do not apply when it is opened as user B. I have copied the entire ...

Thanks for the suggestion.

On XP that config.xml file is in C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data\Helios\TextPad

I have copied the whole folder from one user profile to another. But the user preferences don't seem to be included.

Different user profiles

TextPad 5.1. XP SP3 I want TextPad to open identically on two user profiles (say, open user B as if it were user A). I have copied the Helios and TextPad folders from user A Application Data folder to that for user B, and also, for good measure, to All Users. I have created a workspace in user A and ...

I'm missing the point. With tabs selected tiling is not an option. Deselect tabs and tiling is available. Tile the windows and reselect tabs and the windows go back to full screen.

That's the logical output from the way the programme is structured. Am I supposed to see something else?

Disable menu bar

Is there any way to disable the menu bar? Because the menus when docked always occupy the full screen width, using the menu bar plus a custom menu wastes screen space to the right of the toolbar contents. I would like to be able to dock toolbars side by side, as with, for example, Avant Browser, or ...

Ah, that's obviously referring to what you can reach from the Add or Remove Buttons drop down on the toolbars themselves. Not very helpful that it's not where help says it is.

And then, it still doesn't tell you about copying/pasting/editing the buttons.

Just had a look at help. It says: From the View menu, choose Toolbars/Customize. The Customize Toolbars dialog box is displayed. Click the Commands tab. From the list, select one of the toolbars to see the buttons it contains. To add a button to a toolbar, drag it from the Buttons group on the ...

Thanks Gan. I hadn't realised that ability to edit the buttons was there. It doesn't seem to be referenced in the help files - althouth I may have missed it. I guess then it is possible to copy the icons from the default toolbar and paste them into a custom toolbar. But what a palaver to achieve ...

Things that don't work in TP 5.0.3

I have just upgraded to 5.0.3. There are several functions which don't seem to work as well as in 4.7.3: Toolbar icons: I seem to be missing many standard icons when customising the toolbars. I can't believe, for instance, that I should have the word 'save' instead of the diskette icon, but that's ...

TextPad 5 lasted 2 minutes before I removed it and reinstalled 4.7.3. Having to reassign the syntax files from 4 to 5 I could live with, but not being able to associate with TXT files in Windows...

Drag & drop in File Open window

I have been able to edit an HTML page in TextPad, then File>Open and drag the file in the File>Open window on to a WS-FTP hotspot which automatically uploads the file to the web server. In the last couple of weeks the ability to drag the file has been lost. The only event I can point to is a clutch ...
