Reload last workspace on startup
Another setting that does not seem to work in Textpad 5.0.2. I can see in the registry that TextPad updates a registry value, but it fails to read it. Just like the Windows Placement I had this working after I had gone from 5.0 to 5.0.2, but after uninstall, install 4.7.3 and then 5.0.2 it does not ...

Yes, I realised that I could change the installation directory. However, it's a serious shortcoming of the current installer that it cannot detect the current installation directory. It would make sense to move to a new directory, if the structure of the new version was completely different, but ...

Tool Output on top of document windows
In Textpad4, Command Output and Search Results was much like a regular window. In TextPad 5 they are combined into a tabbed window which is nice. But they are always on top of other windows, even if they are not selected. This is bad. Is there anyway to turn this off?

New default document window size
Textpad 5 changes the size of newly opened document windows. Textpad 4 opened them with a fairly squared geometry, but in TextPad 5, the windows are just half the height, but some 50-100% wider. I guess some people prefer it this way, but I don't. How about a setting for this? Or am I missing ...

Persistent window position
This is listed as one of the fixes for Textpad 5.0.2, but it does not seem to work. That is, everytime I open TextPad I get the same geometry, no matter what I had in TextPad when I opened it. The funny thing is that it seemed to work for a short while after I had installed 5.0.2. But since I wanted ...

Registry cleanup for non-working associations
After that I had installed Textpad 5.0 and 5.0.2, several of my associations did not work. Windows would start Textpad, but then scream that it could not find the file. Curiously some file types seemed to work. When I dug around in the registry I found that I had a bunch of keys like HKEY_CURRENT ...

The move to a new directory does not seem like a good idea to me, and I would recommend that 5.0.3 or whatever the next version might be will not change the existing install directory. I have at least two applications where I've set up Textpad as my default editor, and how is the Textpad to find ...

Then I bet you have set up the associations for .TEX to not use DDE. When I type slask.txt from the command line on my home machine, control is returned to the command line. This is the one association, where I don't have DDE. As you may recall, not using DDE was the working around in 4.7.0 for the ...

Control not returned to command line when opening file.
This may be related to the issue with double-clicking on files in Explorer, which according to Helios had its origin in a bug in VS .Net 2003. Let's say that I have associated .txt with TextPad. If I'm in a command-line window say "charlie.txt" and in the current directory there is a file with this ...

Textpad ignores keyboard bindings after move
I've got a new machine at work, and the regular procedure when moving to a new machine is to copy settings from the registry and the USER directory. Settings are OK, but Textpad appears to completely ignore my CUSTOM.BND and run with default bindings. (TextPad bindings.) If define a new binding ...
