When ever I search on a word in a document it is highlighted in a very, very light gray. I can't seem to figure out how to change this highlighted color to red or something that will stand out more than the gray. I was in Configure > Document Class > Search Results > Colors. Please advise.

set the color for the document class your document lives in for the item "Selected text (no focus)"

in Configure - Preferences, Document Classes - <your document class> - Colors

I tried changing the colors here:
in Configure - Preferences, Document Classes - Search Results - Selected text (no focus) and made the foreground and background a color but still shows up as light gray when searching.

Are you searching in the Search Results window?

no, when doing an F5 (find) for a word within a document it takes me to the word and highlights it in gray. How can I change the color of the highlighted word?

As I already said: change the setting for the "Selected text (no focus)" in the document class in which your document is.

For what it is worth, this change doesn't always take effect until you close and reopen Textpad.
