This (or something similar)happened w/ v4 and Vista and was fixed w/ v5.
Well in Windows 7 the context menu item exists but when clicked I get the below error message:
Is this a reg problem?
Any way I can fix/hack this working again?
Thx
Update: If an instance of TP is already running then it works, otherwise the error. ??

http://www.textpad.com/products/textpad ... tions.html says:

# TextPad 4 is supported on Windows 95, 98, 2000 (SP4), Server 2003, and 32-bit editions of XP.
Windows 7 is not (yet) supported ...

I would agree in that it's most likely a registry issue, especially since it seems to work when an instance is already running. Unfortunately, my Windows 7 VM died and I haven't had a chance to restore it.

I am seeing this as well. Right clicking a file and selecting Textpad from the root context menu produces an error: "The system cannot find the file specified.".
If I right click the file and then select "Open With-> TextPad" then it will open just fine.
I have tried disabling and re-enabling the "Put shortcuts to TextPad on: Context menu" to see if that would reset it, but that didn't work either.
So yeah, something with the way Windows 7 handles the context menu has changed. I'm sure it will be resolved by the time Windows 7 RTMs.
This was on the official Windows 7 x64 Beta version.

Good news - I just upgraded my Windows 7 build 7400 Beta to the new 7057 RC1 that was leaked.
The main context menu entry for TextPad now works. I didn't reinstall TP or anything.
All it took was a full upgrade of the whole OS. Minor. LOL

Yeah Ive been dealing w/ it begrudgingly on build 7000 until the hopefully soon to be released (May) RC1 is made available, either that or when I do my hard drive upgrade in the next month or so Ill clean install the current msdn build. Im just glad its not an issue w/ TP cuz it could be 5 yars or more before the next release haha j.k.
