[Alt+[Key]] Keyboard shortcuts problem

Allo!
First time using the forum, though I have just installed T5 and noticed something:
when editing HTML doc's as part of the current workspace, when I try to access the most recent Workspaces with [Alt+[choice of Keypress here]]-type shortcuts, much like in Office app's, but only the first pair of keypresses is actioned...
For example: I have opened my .WS and wish to close it. I hit [Alt+F] to open the File Menu. SO FAR, so good.
I - still holding [Alt] - add a [w] to pop-out the Workspaces menu: and Nothing happens.
Have tried numerous different pairs of keypresses all to no avail. This happens right the way across my shortcut menu; e.g. I hit [Alt + c] and the Configure menu pops out, but I then keep [Alt] held and hit [r] but nothing happens...
Help? Pretty please?!
N.B. I'm running a WinXP-pro SP3 AMD-Turion64x2 2GB laptop; T5.2 installed over the top of T5.1 after the same problem happened in 5.1.
