Hi,

Has someone successfully applied a chinese translation to english HTML files (simple text, not regexp) using WildEdit search/replace?

If yes, can you please indicate what settings are required?

I've tried this, and get the error message:
Character conversion: Illegal input sequence/combination of input units.

Character encoding options tried are UTF-8, UTF-16. HTML files have already been saved as Unicode (using Notepad, for example).

All help greatly appreciated.

Please try saving the HTML files as UTF-8 and then use UTF-8 encoding in WildEdit.

I hope this helps.

Spoke too soon... the replacement succeeded, according to the WildEdit log, but the file contents are invalid, as the file is NOT multibyte unicode.

When the replaced file is saved as UNICODE, then the text is correctly presented.

Any thoughts?
