Can no longer minimize documents

In TextPad 5.2.0, I have View | Document Tabs unchecked, yet the minimize button in all of my document windows is a different color, and there is no tool tip for it.
Consequently, I can not minimize any of my documents
Is this a bug, or did I miss something in the configuration?
Also, what exactly does Configure | Preferences | Tabbed Document Selector | "stacked" do? I do not see any difference between checking and unchecking it.
TIA

It is normal for there to be no mininize. It was a 'feature' added to version 5.
When stacked tabs is enabled it means when you have a lot of files open, you get more than one row of tabs at the top of the screen. With it not selected you just get one row of tabs so you can't see the tabs to the right of the edge of the window.

Thanks, miked, for the answers.
From where I am sitting, I don't see how taking away the minimize button could be construed as a feature!
I like to work with a lot of windows open, most of them minimized, and the ones that are open have various different sizes. I even like the fact that they partially overlap, and I can see the entire window with a click of the mouse.
With tabs, I get 'slices' of files, much too narrow to be of much use vertically, and showing only a few lines if they are horizontal.
I can put mutliple files into a tab, and I can have multiple tabs (although more than 2 does not work well on my monitor), I can even resize the tab groups. But the fact is I can only look at one file per tab group at a time.
Another problem: occasionally, I want to reorient the tabs from horizontal to vertical. Clicking on 'Tile Horizontally' or 'Tile Vertically' re-tiles ALL of the files. This is pretty uselless, all I wanted to do is tile the document tabs.
Please, Helios, bring back the minimize button! Document tabs do not work very well on my 12:9 monitor

Although the minimize button is disabled, it is still possible to minimize individual documents by using a keyboard shortcut. Here's how to do it:
From the Configure menu choose:
1. Preferences.
2. Keyboard.
3. From the Categories list, select "Window".
4. From the Commands list, select "WindowToggleIcon".
5. Enter the desired shortcut in the box provided. "Ctrl+#" for example.
At this stage, you will be notified if the shortcut you have chosen, has already been assigned to something else.
6. Click "Assign".
7. Click Apply.
I recommend that you have Document tabs turned off if you want to use this feature.
I hope this helps.
