Bookmark Counts on the Status Line

I have two improvement suggestions:
[1] a new action that displays the number of lines currently bookmarked. This is not necessarily the sum of all numbers that are displayed after each bookmarking action. The best way to get this now is to copy the bookmarked lines to the clipboard. A display action would be more convenient.
[2] automatically displaying the number of lines affected when bookmarks are cleared
