I've given up trying to figure out why I can't get synchronized scrolling to work. I've been using TextPad for 10+ years and am using version 5.2.0 at my new job. I guess something has changed with features in the newer version that is causing this to be disabled. My guess is there is some new undocumented combination of settings that I don't have configured right now.

Document tabs off and word wrap off is the magic combination.

Choose View and uncheck Document Tabs. Document tiling and thus synchronized scrolling will then be enabled.
