how to find out your row cursor position #

If I have a long row, and would like to find out my position character # when I click on some character in that row.... how do I do this??

You could have a look at the status bar where row and column of the cursor position are displayed ...

Once you've got your cursor position from the status bar, you can CTRL-G to go back to it.
