"Save" toolbar button with shift and ctrl

I'm most used to 4.7, but somewhat recently upgraded to 5.0.2 and then today to 5.2.
1 - In 4.7, I could shift+click the toolbar "save" button to do a "save all" at any time. In 5.0.2, if the current document has not been modified, then I cannot invoke "save all" this way. I'd like to have the functionality restored.
2 - As of 5.2, it appears that you can no longer shift+click the toolbar "save" button to invoke "save all" under any circumstance. You also cannot ctrl+click to invoke "save as". I checked the help file, and it still says that you can do this. Is this a bug, or am I missing something unique to the new version?
