two screens or one

At work I have two monitors, textpad works great, I put it on the right hand 2nd monitor and the doucments I am reading on the left.

When I remote desktop in from home to that same machine however there is a problem, rooted in the fact that at home I see that same desktop via a single monitor.

Now most programs when maximised so that they come back into view work fine, if I open a dialog box I see it on the primary screen again.

When I maximise textpad and try to open a file for example, I never see the dialog box and I can only assume it open on the 2nd monitor, I think this may be a bug, as the dialog did not follow the parent back to the primary monitor.

Once that dialog is open textpad becomes wholy unresposive as its waiting for me to close it, thus I have to kill it via task manager.

Is there a work arround other than my moving it and opening some thing on my primary monitor every evening to move it back before I go home ?

You can try to move the Open File dialog to the visible monitor by using the keyboard, if you know it's global position.
  • Alt+[space]
    M
    Arrow keys
You may want to try this on a visible dialog first. M is the shortcut for Move, other locales may provide a different hotkey.
