Sorry im new at this forum, but im really desperate...

Im a Admin of a game called Tactical Ops... we use to search logs for cheaters... well from tiem to time logs can be damaged and somehow it breaks the logs in some pices...

Sometimes it breaks on a Line break.. then a little Square appears... when searching multiple files, files with the SQUARE crashes the text pad... theres a pic here explaining everything:



My PC is:
Windows XP, SP2
Got ultimate framework installed
Im using a Atlhon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+

Ive tested on vista too.. same prob...

Any clue ?

I had to zip it cause geocities dont accept "DMP" files.

My guess is that the square is something like a Null character and TP wasn't expecting to see it. You can change the font that is displaying the text to attempt to see what that character is. Alternately, open it in binary mode and see what the hex value is.

I'm on my Mac atm but are you running the latest version of TP? The menu's look like they are from an older version but it could just be the lack of sleep.

One option would be to prune the log file down into something that isn't revealing sensitive game data and post it so that others can confirm your experience. Also, send the dmg files to the address that pops up, support at textpad com or whatever it indicates to expedite the research.

The square there its teh symbol to go down a line.... sometimes when you copy a text from itnernet or something, and paste at some other program that dont understand the language, it pastes the Squares everytime it has a line break...

the strange thing its that it only happens when searchign multiple files, when I search onli in this file, nothing happens.. i can open it, edit it, but never search in multiple files with it inside...

other stuff.. this "Square" appears only in WIndows NotePad, it doesnt appears in TP if i open the file with it...

btw, my version is 5.2.0 32bit

Bad news.. I've tested on TEXTPAD 4.73... and its working on it.. it just dont work on 5+...
