Bug with document selector and reloading files

Post by Micah Friesen »

This has been a problem since at least TextPad 4.6.

Steps to replicate:

1) Ensure that the document selector is open in TextPad and that the 'When files are modified by another process' setting in Preferences -> File is set to 'Prompt'.
2) Open two files (e.g. File1.txt and File2.txt; if these are opened in order, File2.txt will now be the active document).
3) Using an external process, edit the contents of the file that does not have focus (e.g. File1.txt).
4) Using the document selector, switch back to File1.txt. Respond Yes to the prompt to reload the file.

You are now stuck with the document selector having focus. You have to either click on the document or hit enter in order to get focus back to the document (rather than the selector). This is a great annoyance to me because I always assume (even after 5+ years of living in TextPad every day) that focus will end up in the file, and I start hitting the arrow keys and it starts scrolling through the open documents, rather than navigating through the document that just got reloaded.

I would really appreciate if this could be fixed - after the document is reloaded, focus should be placed in the document.
