Old Requests - New Version..

Well, i have one request that i made prior to the 5.x release which is still not happened... it is an easy fix, and i can't for the life of me understand why it can't be done. so i will re-state it since Helios is actually in a coding mood.

can you PLEASE make the tooltip for the systray icon (when minimized to systray) state the name of the workgroup rather then TEXTPAD?

I know it's TEXTPAD it's a familiar "T" shaped icon i have grown to know and love over the last 10 years i have used the program as my sole editor... but i have to memorize which order i minimized my work groups in - in order to know which one is which... that's crazy talk man!

so to recap.. if the minimized textpad is a workgroup, please have the tooltip say "%WORKGROUP NAME%" rather then TEXTPAD

here, i will give you an example:

rather then this:

maybe something like this:

Thank you

I've never used the minimise to status bar functionality and so never missed it.

I have however recently started using this functionality in Firefox. Its tooltip shows the title of the currently active tab. I wouldn't want to see more than that in TextPad.

Not giving up on this one: I’ve been posting on this since 2002 and I am not stopping. If you don't use the minimize to trey then this isn't important to you. But since I commonly have 5+ instances with as many different workspaces open; this is a HUGE thing to me.

TEXTPAD PEOPLE! Will you please at least comment on it! For Pete sake, I’ve been using your program for 10 years, I’ve personally been responsible for 20+ licenses being purchased... the least you can do is comment!

By and large, software development is not done by license vote unless we're talking a really big amount of licenses. I also doubt your other 20 licensees are as keen on it as you are. I estimate the percentage of TextPad users who run multiple instances in the tray to be well below 1%.

That said, it should be trivial to update the tray icon tool tip with the TextPad title bar string, which has everything anyone could ask for.
  • TextPad
  • TextPad - [Document1]
  • TextPad - [C:\Foo\Bar.tmp]
  • TextPad - [C:\Foo\Bar.tmp]
  • My Workspace - TextPad - [C:\Foo\Bar.tmp]
