Textpad not responding any more when files open from network

Using Textpad 5.2 on Windows XP Pro SP2.
When having Textpad running and having opened files from a mounted network share (this is e.g. Z:\ connected to a SAMBA server) then when say switching to another application and then back to Textpad, then Textpad hangs (consuming about 70% cpu) and the GUI does not respond any more. Only killing Textpad by the taskmanager helps.
Does anyone has any idea?
(If more information is needed, just state.)

Please try implementing the following procedure in TextPad:
From the Configure menu choose:
1. Preferences
2. File
3. Under the heading "When files are modified by another process", check "Ignore"
4. Click Apply / OK.
I hope this helps.

OK - I will try that, BUT
- the file was NOT changed while the other application was in the foreground and I switched back to Textpad (i.e. nothing was done with the file, not even another open or read or so)
- when switching this option to IGNORE, then I will no longer be notified IF another application changes an opened file (but I'd like to be informed...)

For now with the proposed settings of the second post (Wed Mar 26, 2008 10:35 am) I now longer got any "not responding" errors up to now. Thus I think this is working fine for now.
However the only drawback is that the automatic re-loading is now disabled. (One has to do manually with the "FileRevert" function).
Thanks!

Is there no other way to work around this or is there maybe any bugfix on the way to solve this?
I am asking, because after working a while with this I got into some (even big trouble) because the automatic notification (that the file changed) is now disabled!
==> This is a big drawback, as I encountered now! And since other programs do not have this problem (also with enabled change detection), there shall be a solution to this without disabling the change detection.
Can you please comment on that? - Thank you.
