Warning From COMODO firewall

I used TextPad 5 .0.3 (32 bit edition) in an attempt to open a file in a subdirectory on a USB flash drive (Windows XP SP 2).
Before I can do this, the COMODO personal firewall gave this the following warning:
"TextPad.exe could not be recognized and it is about to modify
the contents of J:\name.exe. You must make sure
TextPad.exe is a safe application before allowing this request."
name.exe is an executable at the top level on the J drive where the USB flash drive is mounted.
In what way is TextPad trying to modify executables?
I have run the ClamWin AV software on the folders containing TextPad but it reported no infections.
Thanks for shining any light on this
