I'm lost. I am setting up my laptop and have no idea what IP address to put into my folders under preferences. I've looked on my desktop but I'm still not putting two and two together. It used to be a numeric value and I did not write it down. stupid I know. but even if I knew I would still have the problem of not being able to .asp files in the html browser , I can view .html just fine though. Anyone be able to tell me what address to put in the folders - WWW IP address slot so that I can view .asp files.\\

Not sure if it makes a difference but I am running Vista business.

You can probably keep the default of http://127.0.0.1

Thanks for taking the time and responding. Unfortunately it doesn't do the trick. The default works if I'm testing .html files but not .asp files.

Any other takers???

HTML files can be viewed without a Web server, while ASP files need a web server (that takes care of starting the appropriate script language interpreter, giving it the page, taking its output and deliver it to the browser).

Do you have a web server installed on your machine? If so, under which URL can it be reached?

ho boy. Way over my head. I have no idea. How do I know?
