I installed the TextPad 5.1 update on my test machine (XP SP2) and now, on average, it takes 10 seconds to launch and display the TextPad window.

When compared to the 5.0.3 version of TextPad, which opens instantly, this is extremely slow!

In case this was a problem with the upgrade, I uninstalled TextPad and removed all references of this from my test machine before performing a clean install. Same result - 10 seconds on average before TextPad is ready for use.

Has anyone else noticed this behaviour on TextPad 5.1?

Mine takes a few seconds at first run, but after that it loads almost instantanious. Upgrading from 4.7.3 didn't work well, so a full uninstall, and manually removing anything with "textpad" and "helios" in the registry before reinstalling did the trick. Helios should work on a smoother upgrade from 4 to 5. Quite happy with 5.1 so far.

PS: make sure to close the 'dockable file explorer' - slow down startup.
