How do I delete a document class?

Do not reply "Tools | Preferences" Select class and click the red X in the middle pane. That doesn't delete the CLASS, it deletes a FILE SPECIFICATION that belongs to the class.

I've found one way to do it:

"Start | Run | regedit"
Click on My Computer at the top of the structure list
"Edit | Find"
Enter the name of the class you want to delete and "Find"
Check it is the correct section of the registry then deleted the 'folder' of that name.

Close all documents.
Configure - Preferences
Select "Document Classes" in left part
Select document class to delete in "User Defined Classes" list
Press Delete key or click on red cross below the list.

That wouldn't make any sense as Preferences is not in the Tool menu ...

OK, I got the menu wrong. However your reply is the very one I said not to bother with as I thought it didn't work. (It didn't last night). To my surprise, it worked this evening. Strange.

Hi MudGuard,

Thanks for posting your solution. It worked for me too, in TextPad 5.2.0.

What I really wanted to do was rename a document class.

Cheers,
Carol

The trick to making it work is as MudGuard said - "Close all documents"
Otherwise the option to delete / rename does not appear.
