An access denied error is generated if another program has a file being edited open preventing textpad from saving changes. The problem is the error message lists the temp file textpad is using rather than the file being edited. The message displayed is:

Access to [path to file being edited]\[random name].tmp was denied.

It would be better to list the real name of the file being edited.

Do you have Configure | Preferences | File | Overwrite original files directly selected? If not, try selecting it.

Before you do this make sure that only one instance of TextPad is running, and close it before you open any other instance.
