selecting one word with keyboard

If, using a mouse, I double-click on a word, that word is highlighted. Good for ^C or ^F. Since I use my keyboard very heavily, and the mouse rarely, a keyboard equivalent would be nice. Is there a way to highlight the current word where the cursor is using the keyboard? Or do I have to go to the front, then select to end of word, then back up (from the space) which would be ^B, ^ Shift W, Shift LeftArrow ?

Assign a hotkey to EditCopyWord.
From the Main Menu:
Configure/Preferences/Keyboard/
Categories=Edit
Selection=EditCopyWord.
Put cursor in field to Press new shortcut key.
Press new shortcut key. Will show if already in use.
Click on Assign if this is what you want.
Click Apply.
DONE
Now click anywhere on the word to be copied. Press Shortcut key, and word is now in clipboard.

I have my shortcuts set to MS. Try Shift-Ctl-Rt, or Shift-Ctl-Lt for backwards.
