Drag and drop for tabs, explorer and document selector

Post by voracity »

I'd like to be able to drag and drop tabs (i.e. files), documents in the document selector (i.e. files) and files in the explorer view (i.e. files) just like I can in Windows Explorer. For example, I'd like to be able to drag a tab into a Windows Explorer folder to make a copy of it, or right-click drag it so that it pops up the usual drag context menu that Windows normally gives. Another example would be dragging a tab into an FTP client so I can upload it easily.

Some other related suggestions:
  • The ability to select/drag multiple documents/files. For example, in the document selector (or explorer), you could select multiple files and then drag them onto Windows Explorer/ftp/etc.
  • It would also be good to be able to run user-defined tools on selections in the document selector/explorer/tabs.
  • Drag and drop between explorer/tabs/document selector.
  • Scroll through tabs with the mouse wheel.
I also have some suggestions for tools:
  • Please remove the 'External Tools' submenu. It just adds steps to some very common actions for me.
  • In fact, it'd be nice if the whole 'Tools' menu were completely customisable.
  • Allow tools to be specialised to the current document class (but with common tools linked to the default class). For instance, I don't need 'Spelling' and 'Sort' on programming files, but I do need my custom tools.
Beyond that, keep up the good work. Version 5 is very nice.
