In TextPad 4.7 you could choose to have the document selector window on the left and/or the document tabs.

With version 5 you can't choose to hide the tabs.

This is irritating. I work on projects with maybe 10-15 files open at once. So I sue the lhs document selector. The tabs are distracting and take up real estate.

Why can I no longer choose not to have them?

Oh yes - that's where it is. I assumed it would be in the View preferences.
