sometimes when i clik into the 'search' case-sensitive is chked, other times not. is there someway to specify NOT as a default.

also, i often want to edit many files simultaneously. when i just click textpad it uses the same instance but open another window. is it possible to tell textpad to always open another instance of itself. my right-clik menu has both 'open with textpad' and 'textpad' the textpad choice does the offending open, the open with will always give me a 2nd instance.

thanks for the reply, i believe to the 2nd part of my note.

actually, that wasnt the fix, that is what i have now, i tried checking, unchecking. in this case what i tried to describe is that if i open a file and i see it in textpad. then i wish to open another. i right click, and see 'textpad' and 'open with ...', if i choose textpad, i will only get 1 instance of textpad with 2 'windows' (1 for each file). if i choose 'open with textpad' i will get a 2nd instance of text pad, so i could see them both simultaneously. if i uncheck the multiple instances, it doesnt allow me to open the 2nd file at all, until i close he 1st instance. thanks. jim
