How to minimize document windows in MDI mode with TP v5 ??

Post by lano1106 »

I apparently lost that functionnality by "upgrading" from 4.7

Thank you,

Me too ... is there a quick fix, or should I downgrade for now?

Hi,

I posted this technical support request a week ago and nobody from Helios has responded.

Do I need to mention that I am a registered user?
I hope that you will come back to me soon or else I will start wondering what are the benefits of being a registered user.

Thank you,

The facility to minimize document windows in MDI mode has not been implemented in TextPad 5.

I've been using TP for ever, but couldn't remember the last time I logged in to the forums or my info (so I created a new account).

Yes, please re-add the minimize functionality!

Thanks!

Hi Mr Admin,

Thank you for your answer. I'm guessing that the minimize button has been disabled because there is no need for it in the tab mode. I'm guessing also that it would be trivial for you to dynamically turn off or on the document window style flag to control the minimize button when a user switch from MDI mode to tab mode.

My question is: Are you planning to reinsert that functionality in the next release so I can just wait for it or should I start to find a new text editor?

Thank you,

BTW, I'm just curious about other users. Do you prefer the new tab mode or the original MDI (Multiple Document Interface) mode?

Never use/used tabbed versions as they took up too much screen space, not such a factor now large monitors are so cheap.

So use MDI, but may start using tabbed windows.

I never use the document tabs myself. I have the child windows maximized (though not the application window itself) and use the Document Selector to switch between documents.

I use minimize to leave two up active documents in MDI mode, then use "Window->Tile Vertically" to view both side-by-side. Now I can't find a way to do this nicely.

I'd point out that TextPad 4 had tabbed mode also. I've always preferred it to MDI in any app.
