Hi Keith - at present only 5.0.2 is on the download page (checked and the file is 5.0.2 as well, rather than just the text)

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Keith,

On discovering 5.03 this morning I decided I'd better move up from 4.50, but I seem to have screwed up installing it. I thought I'd followed your instructions correctly
"Upgrading from TextPad 4.x:
Simply download and install it in its default folder."
even though I couldn't really see how that could work, given that the default offered is C:\Program Files\TextPad 5, yet my present version is in C:\Program Files\TextPad 4

Various messages came up, like
Error accessing 'C:\Documents and Settings\Terry Pinnell\Application Data\Helios\TextPad\5.0\CUSTOM.BND'
C:\Documents and Settings\Terry Pinnell\Application Data\Helios\TextPad\5.0\CUSTOM.BND was not found..

Error accessing 'C:\Program Files\TextPad 5\Samples\MACRO23.TPM'
C:\Program Files\TextPad 5\Samples\MACRO23.TPM was not found..
(and same for all my macros).
Ultimately I got an Unlicensed Copy displayed.

What's the cleanest way to undo any damage and install correctly please?

Best wishes,

More than four months later TextPad 5 is still only available in English. Are there plans to actually translate it?

I've gone back to 4.7

Not sure what other chnages there were, but I wasn't keen on search results and command results appearing in a pane at the bottom - I much preferred them appearing among the rest of the documents - much easier for a quick scan through.

Did I miss the otpion for them to appear maximaised in the window?

Installing lost all my editing macro shortcuts - as it almost always seems to, despite my best attempts to follow the instructions!

Please try to manually download and install the latest Windows Installer from Microsoft, and then install TextPad:

I hope this helps.
