Textpad 5 changes the size of newly opened document windows. Textpad 4 opened them with a fairly squared geometry, but in TextPad 5, the windows are just half the height, but some 50-100% wider.

I guess some people prefer it this way, but I don't. How about a setting for this? Or am I missing something?

I agree. This is a pain. I have to resize the window every time I bring the app up. Version 4 always opened up in the size of the last app window closed.

Resize the window to your liking, hold down <ctl>, hit the x on the title bar. It will remember the size.
