Why aren't error codes listed in help?

If TextPad generates error messages like the following:
Tool completed with exit code 22, why the hell doesn't the online help list what exit code 22 stands for? If the error codes have any meaning at all, they should be listed in the online help, even a beginning software programmer should know that.
