Windows 2000 service pack 3

Post by jeffy »

I have Windows 2000, but TextPad won't install because it says I need service pack 3 or greater.

How do I find out what service pack I have, and how do I get the file(s) needed to update my OS?

P.S. I don't have internet at home, but do have a large USB drive for downloading at the library or school...

Thanks!

Press and hold the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt, lower left corner). Press the "Pause" key (top row, right end).

A dialog should appear "System Properties". On the "General" page (which should be open, if not, change to it) you will find the System information including Service pack.

Start -> Run
Type winver in the dialogue box.
I choose to fight with a sack of angry cats.

Okay thanks for helping me understand how to figure what I got.

Now how do I get the latest service pack to upgrade my OS? Thanks again.

Go to www.microsoft.com and search for "windows 2000 sp3".
