Install of v5.0 fails with error 1155

Post by tasbury »

Installshield appears to want instmsi30, and v2.0 comes with NT2k sp4.

v3.0 download wants me to run WGA (which I'm not about to do).

It appears that I will not be able to upgrade textpad beyond the v.4.7.whatever that I now have.

Does that seem accurate?

Thank you,

By NT2K I assume you mean Win2000?

I assume you don't want to run WGA because you don't have a valid Windows license? If that is correct i suggest you get a valid Windows license to get the required updates from Microsoft before you ask for assistance.

WGA Considered Harmful

Post by tasbury »

No, as a matter of fact, I don't want to run WGA because it's intrusive and obnoxious.

I have a valid Windows install, I've been a textpad customer for several years, and I would like to be able to upgrade to v5.

Do I assume correctly that, while Textpad v4 only requires the instmsi that comes with the OS, v5 requires instmsi30?

Thanks again,

Yes you are correct and that is the same for lot of other installation programs so it's nothing unique with textpad. You could download this from MS on another computer and when you got the file from MS you can install it on any computer without WGA. There are also ways to remove WGA again if it's really important for you to not have WGA on that computer.

Anyway version 5.0 is full of bugs (even the installation got several issues) so a good advice would be to wait for the next release. Version 4.7.3 is a much better option at this time.
