TextPad 4.7.3 : save as type failure

Post by chrisjj »

If I

1 click File | New
2 click File | Save As
3 set Save as type: HTML...
4 click OK

Textpad saves a file as type "Text files" (sic) i.e. saves a file with extension .txt .

Is this a known bug?

I hope the answer to the problem you are experiencing is :

http://www.textpad.com/support/faq/index.html - it is the second FAQ

In short I just put the full file name and extension in quotes.

Thanks, but that's an entirely different problem:

>~> If you supply an extension it doesn't recognize

As my report shows, in my case I am not supplying an extension at all.

Not 100% sure on it, but you can also take a gander at Configure, Preferences (alt-q, P) -> File It has a Default file extension of txt. Might try changing that to .xyz and then redo your action. If it saves it as an xyz file, then you know that this is where it is applying the default name. I have mine set to blank but I'm also pedantic enough to always type in my file extensions.

Well, TextPad support says it is down to Microsoft (quite how, god only knows, since it is the TP developers' choice what dialogs the use) and so is beyond their control.
