Unicode as default?

Almost all of the files I edit are in Unicode format. Is there a way set set this as the default for WildEdit open and save?
When I choose (e.g.) UTF-8 in the character encoding dropdown, then close and reopen WildEdit, UTF-8 is still selected ...
(works the same for any other encoding)
