Jave program run from TextPad overwrites TP Toolbar buttons

I have a P-III, 450MHz MicronPC computer running Win98SE, which I have had about 5 years. I have used TextPad for about that same time. About 1.5 years ago, when I 'ran' a JAVA program from within TP (Ctrl-2), various graphics would get wiped, specifically the Win START button, TP toolbar buttons, and parts in the Win98-Explorer window. (Yes!, graphics outside of TP are affected.) This started to occur about the same time as JDK1.4.2 and/or TP4.7.1 was released. These are programs that use some SWING components, but worked before. I can run these same programs on a WinXP without problem. (One of these programs is jFileFormat.java which is available as a TP-AddIn under the name jFormat.) Everything 'works' fine, but the toolbar buttons, for instance, are simply white squares, some with a bar running thru it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I just did the 'delete' the DOCKING attribute using RegEdit, but it didn't change anything. I have this problem no where else, only when running a *.java program from withing TP. None of my *.java programs are manipulating any grahics.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks
JohnB

Updates! I think you should update your system. ie. get the latest drivers for your video card and shuch, also the latest version of TP might help, but I would update the system first. Did you try diffrent screen resolutions? HTH

Thanks for your suggestions. Actually I have solved the problem witha new computer. The old one is slated to become a Linux test bed. Again,
